Move Out Checklist

To be eligible for a full security/damage deposit refund, the following must be done to the Landlords satisfaction.

1. Garbage must be bagged, boxed up and disposed of completely.  This means placing in appropriate City of Regina recycling or refuse bin, if those bins are full, the tenant must dispose of the items by other means.  Nothing is to remain either within the property or on the outside.

2. Stove/microwave/dishwasher must be thoroughly cleaned inside and out.  Any filters must have been removed and thoroughly cleaned/sanitized and should be left out for the landlord to inspect.  The stove needs to have been pulled out from the wall and the rear of stove as well as floors/walls/cabinets behind it need also be cleaned.

3. Fridge/freezer must be thoroughly cleaned inside and out.  Any filters and the lower grill must have been removed and thoroughly cleaned/sanitized and should be left out for the landlord to inspect.  The stove needs to have been pulled out from the wall and the rear of fridge/freezer as well as floors/walls/cabinets behind it need also be cleaned.

4. Kitchen cabinets need to be wiped out and sanitized inside and out.  The contents need to all be removed, the surfaces swept/dusted out and then thoroughly disinfected/wiped down to remove any stains or marks.  The countertops/sinks/faucets need to be wiped/sanitized.

5. Windows/blinds must be thoroughly cleaned meaning the inside of all glass must be wiped and sanitized, the screen must be vacuumed and washed and all window returns/ledges/handles thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.  Any supplied blinds must also be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

6. Doors/patio area must be thoroughly wiped down and sanitized same as windows/blinds above.

7. Walls need to thoroughly washed meaning wet the walls with water and a mild cleaner and wipe in all directions very well.  Use a dry towel or something else to then wipe them down to dry them.  Wash all areas of walls including the switch/outlet covers, baseboards, door trim, ledges etc.  If you wish to fill any nail holes or damage in the walls, they may be filled with a quality drywall compound and sanded down until flat.  Please do not prime or paint any of the patched areas.

8. Bathroom must be thoroughly wiped down and sanitized.  The toilet, shower walls, tub, countertops, faucets, shower head etc must all be clean and spot free.

9. Light fixtures need to be thoroughly cleaned inside and out, with any burnt out bulbs replaced with LED bulbs.

10.  Vents/ducts grilles need to be removed and the insides vacuumed.  The vents/ducts/grilles need to then be thoroughly washed/sanitized and can be reinstalled.

11.  Floors need to be vacuumed and washed completely.  If there is carpet it must be vacuumed and professionally shampooed/sanitized.  *You must ask the landlord to inspect the carpet if you feel it does not require shampooing, at least 1 week prior to the move out date so that can be verified, otherwise it will need to have been done*

12. If there is a storage shed or garage it must be completely emptied and contents disposed of.  The inside must be swept and cleaned as thoroughly as possible.

Failing to do any of the above prior to the agreed upon move-out inspection time will result in the landlord requiring to withhold some of the security/damage deposit to cover costs associated.
